An amazing woman and blogger, Kelli Taylor, over at http://www.shelearnsasshegoes.com does this great practice, where she posts monthly resolutions. I really like the idea of publicly showing what you like to accomplish for the month for added accountability. I like it so much I thought it would be a great way to get back to writing. And blogging, and since I only every posted a few of my blogs here, it really is like starting over.
So ... March resolutions!
Finish school work early.
Be done all papers/assignments before the night before they are due. Ideally a whole day prior! But I want to give myself a break if needed, so 5pm the night before.
Clean off my desk.
I have been piling things up on there in an attempt to keep my place clean, so now it's time to clean that out.
Organize my food.
I have some great things, and I really cannot stand the way the are disorganized.
Go through my winter clothes.
Since these are the clothes I've been wearing (or not) it's a perfect month to sort them out, before it gets nice and I just want to focus on the warm weather.
Have an awesome month!
Spend time with the people I care about, eat great food, have fun, go on an adventure and get a humidifier.
That first one is difficult ... I guess that applies to the paper due on Wed morning! I guess I better get off the internet!
The last one is all of the fun things I want to do, and need to do for my sanity! It's such a blessing that there is a four day weekend at the end of the month! I won't mention how booked that weekend already is, or that it is just days before exams.
Hope anyone who reads this has an amazing month!
Don't forget to check out Kelli's monthly to-do list too!

Tartan Day!!
Today is April 6th and in 1320 on this date the Declaration of Arbroath was signed, the Scottish Declaration of Independence. Thus, this is a day to celebrate everyone who has descended from this great nation. The whole idea and celebration of this day has been more European (for obvious reasons) and in the USA, because their declaration of independence was modeled after the Scottish one. I think this is a pretty cool day, a chance to celebrate our history, heritage and an awesome culture. And since the amazing country we live in is all about cultural diversity, we should all join in on the passing of this day, much like St. Patrick's Day.

There is a huge parade in New York City (as pictured above) on Sat and a bunch of concerts and massive party's all week. If I had the money, going to this party would be worth every cent! So, I'm going to pump up the bag pipe music, play along on my snare, get some Gaelic poems and party like a true Scotsman (or Women). I encourage all of you to do the same!! Raise your glass in celebration of this amazing country and the culture and tradition that has come to blend into our Canadian culture. ~ Photo and other details from http://www.tartanweek.com/

Cancer Awareness and the Amazing work of the Canadian Cancer Society
April, this beautiful spring month with lots of rain, and for most college and university students it's dreaded exam time! These things can make for a pretty dreary month, however, the Canadian Cancer Society is going to help to brighten your mood. This is the month that the society and their huge force of volunteers get out and shine a giant spotlight on the realities of cancer and try to raise money for the cause. My hope is to make some more posts to this regard as the month progresses, because it's always good to remember others, understand their struggles and because education is the key to prevention. Mostly, I write about this because it is a topic I am extremely connected to and is very important to me.

You might be wondering how does this fine organization and it's affiliates raise the money they so desperately need? Well, there are many different ways, but the one that draws a lot of the attention during April are "Daffodil Days". Through selling beautiful yellow daffodils and coming to us, the public, to raise money these flowers and taking donations. The society raises money which is then spent in brilliant ways to help in the fight against cancer. (This may be a future posting, if not check it out on the society's website.) This is also a time for the society to educate the rest of us on the realities of cancer, ways we can prevent it and how the society advocates for victims, sufferers, survivors and families.
There is some food for thought! If you see someone selling daffodils from the Cancer society, be sure to stop!!
A big thank you to all of the amazing people who work and volunteer with this organization and others like it. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those suffering from all forms of this horrible disease, and every other awful illness.
